House Mouse Cards

As a family we were going to see The Ugly Truth however that got postponed until wednesday - so after I got home from the gym Kaelyn and I worked on some of her cards for when she goes back to school. She is in love with the house mouse stamps - and I have to say the are cute. Here is what I have done so far:

Erin's Wedding Shower

Today we had Erin's wedding shower at Karen Comptons. It was really great as I got to see some people I haven't seen for years. I also got to see Hazel (dad's adoptive mom) who just had brain surgery on friday. She is one very strong inspiring women, nothing can keep her down. It was definately hard hearing that she had a tumor but seeing her happy and laughing made me feel better.

I made a cake for the event and it turned out ok, wasn't textermely happy with it. However everyone loved it and it tasted pretty good. Erin loved the acrylic album I made for her, I am so glad.

Here is the cake - it was made with strawberries in the middle and butter cream icing. I made red rose on the top with gold pearl dust all over them.

Waterloo - Day Two

Woke up early because I had to drive my sister in to her conference for 8am. Well I found out that she hardly slept last night because she was afraid of burglars and that someone was going to steal our car. She is so funny sometimes. After I got her some Timmie’s I dropped her off and went back to the Motel to get ready. I had my shower, got dressed and –packed up the car. I checked out of the motel about 10ish. I then decided I would stop at the local Walmart. After I spent some time looking around I went back to St. Jacob’s. I took a lot of pictures of the street because there were hardly any tourists out. I went to sit down by the river to make my sister a necklace because most of the stores did not open until noon. I went to this little gourmet shop and got this corn peeler (apparently it shaves off the corn kernels on a cob of corn); my mom wanted it. I also got some local honey and maple syrup. After I finished I had about an hour until I had to pick my sister up so I decided to so to the park with the zoo. I took some great shots. There were baby bunnies, and baby ducks. They were so cute.

After I picked my sister up we decided to head home. It was a great weekend.

Waterloo Trip

Today my sister and I left to go to Waterloo. My sister had a conference to attend at her university because she will be a Don (resident advisor) next year. We left at about 10 am after we had gone to the gym.

We decided to go to St. Jacob’s first before heading to Waterloo. I have always loved St. Jacob’s. It’s a great little town filled with all these neat little stores. We walked around The Shops at Riverworks – looked at the book store, the clothing store and the jewelry place. Next we walked across the street to The Mill. We walk up the steps to the second floor to go to Gecko Beads and to Scrapping Turtle These are great stores. Gecko Beads now has a lampworking studio and you can purchase some of their pieces. I picked up some bumble bees and a urn style bead with white and orange dots that look like scales. I can’t wait to use them. Kaelyn and I then went to Scrapping Turtle. My passion – scrapbooking. This store is great, and they now carry House Mouse stamps. Kaelyn bought me four of them.

Here is a picture of the bees she makes:

After I had finished we decided to go to Waterloo and check into the motel that we rented. We went to the Comfort Inn off Weber St. The room was cute. It was very stuffy though so as soon as we brought in our stuff, on went the air conditioning. Kaelyn had to be at her conference for 5:30, so by the time we had done loading the room it was about 2:30. I really wanted to go to the bead store in Waterloo the Bead Bazaar. There we found some lampworking by Brian Newman. They were very gorgeous pieces. I got Kaelyn a heart pendant and a flower drop.

I dropped Kaelyn off at her conference at 5:30 and then went back to the motel. I worked on some bead work until I went to pick her up. We watched some television before we went to bed.

Bella's Challenge - July 10

Every Monday Bella posts a challenge that you need to complete before thursday. You need to provide her with an email and picture of what you have completed. This week was a sketch. All you have to do is log onto Stamping Bella's Blog It's a great way to challenge yourself.

This week was a sketch. This is what the sketch was:

Here is the card I created based on the sketch we were provided with:

This is a close up of the stamp I used:

I used Close to my Heart – Key to my Heart paper. For the circles I used Nestabilities. To colour the stamped image I used my copic markers. They are awesome. I told myself that I would not get into them. That didn’t last long. They are great to use.

The stamp I used on this card is “shower BUGG” with the sentiment “just wanted to say”.

It turned out awesome.

Movie Day!!!

Kaelyn and I decided that today we would go and see “The Proposal”. OMG! It was great. We didn’t stop laughing. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

The best part is when Sandra Bullock’s character and Ryan Renold’s Character sang Rob Base’s It Takes Two. I can still hear it playing in my head.

Cottage Weekend

Woke up about 10:30 am. Boy was I tired!! That bed at the cottage is awesome, puts me right to sleep.

Veronica and I got up and got ready then we headed to Huntsville so I could show her around.

We walked around mainstreet checking out all the stores. We went to the Muskoka Roastery – that place is great they have all kinds of tea and coffee in different flavors.

I bought some tea – my favorites – Lemon Strawberry Hibiscus and Vanilla Chai. They now come in these cute little tins.

After we were done walking around town we had lunch at one of my favorite restaurants: THE COTTAGE WATERFRONT GRILL. It was great. By the time we were done eating it was pouring rain, and I mean pouring. You should have seen Vern and I we ran to the car so fast.

We then headed up to Walmart.

After Walmart we headed back to the cottage. The rest of the night was spent scrapbooking. Vern made me an awesome dinner. Steak, chicken, asparagus and salad. YUMMY.

We ended up going to bed late again but it was well worth it.

Cottage Weekend

Another rainy day.

I went into Huntsville to get some supplies for the cottage.

It wasn’t a very good day. I visited the scrapbook store, which had moved to a great new location. I also checked out the bead store.

After I had done my running around I drove back to the cottage to do some more scrapbooking.

Veronica came up to the cottage to say and spend some time with me. It was great. We had lots of fun cropping and talking and watching some movies on my laptop.

I ended up in bed around 2am.

Canada Day

Happy Canada Day!!!

Today I left for the cottage. I left home around 2pm. It was a great drive, very quiet on the highway. I had my music, the sunshine and the open road.

However, when I got to the cottage about 1.5 hours later; it was gloomy, and overcast and spiting. Luckily I brought some scrapbooking to work on.

I worked on my friends engagement album. I used Close to my Heart’s acrylic album. For paper I used Bazill Cardstock and Close to my Heart Silhouette paper. It turned out to be a beautiful little album. I also used flowers and jewels and rub-ons to embellish the rest of the album.

I filled it with the engagement photos I took for them. I can’t wait to give it to her at her shower.

Here it is:
